Online Christmas Gift Guide

Introducing the Kit Heath Gift Guide!

It is that time of year again, when we wrap up warm to brave the weather to trawl the high street, desperate to find THAT gift. You know, the one that your proud of.

The gift that you KNOW will bring a super grin and will make a certain someone feel special not just for Christmas but day after day thereafter.

Far too often we head out with no compass as to where we can find these gifts, and end up just settling for the best thing we can find.

At Kit Heath we have all decided that we are going to try and be far more savvy this year. We are thinking long and hard about what we are after before hitting the streets. We've even made lists!

The learning's of Christmases past has taught us we are not going to be lured into a purchase because of fatigue and we have lost the will to live, negotiating town with our bags and aching feet! Instead we are going to skip gayly from store to store with a wink and a smile to all those caring shop assistants!

But we don't feel we are alone this year, so we have produced a gift guide to assist you however you decide to shop.

So here is the new online Christmas Gift guide to give you some new ideas for special presents for your loved ones this Christmas.

There is something for everyone, whether your budget is £40 or £300 the gift guide has something to inspire your choice this year.

If politicians had to undergo an NSF review process...

Lately I've been hearing a lot of local election ads on the radio and television, and I find it fascinating how it's often acceptable for politicians to be exceptionally vague and hand-wavy in their rhetoric.

"Our town lost a lot of jobs last year. If you elect me, I will create more jobs! Vote for Bob Smith."

(How will you create more jobs? What is your methodology? Which sector will you create jobs in? Will you do the job creation, or will it be your staff? Where's your 4-year project plan?)

I think it's only fair. Given how harsh many of these politicians are on science funding, it should be reasonable to turn the tables.

it's monday...i think we all might agree w/ those words of wisdom.

Don't Stop B-cell-ievin'

On the topic of "teaching as performance", this video making the rounds is by Richard Bungiro, Immunology lecturer at Brown. He calls this "immunolo-glee", "Don't Stop B-cell-ievin'".

Kudos to Richard -- it takes guts to sing in front of students, and I think anything to make science lectures exciting is a great idea. (You know, give them some pep -tides*)
